In the underground mine of the Vatukoula Gold Mine in Fiji, Oceania, Yier Technology’s AT-2000L Raise borer Machine helped successfully complete a 2-meter-diameter, 150-meter-deep, 88-degree-inclination ventilation shaft.

The Vatukoula Gold Mine is the largest and longest-operating gold mine in Fiji, located in the northwest of Viti Levu, Fiji’s main island. Since its official commissioning in 1934, it has maintained continuous production for more than 90 years, with cumulative gold output exceeding 240 tonnes. It is one of the world’s longest-running large-scale gold mines and a key pillar of Fiji’s economy. The deposit is a typical volcanic low-temperature hydrothermal gold deposit, characterized by exceptionally favorable ore-forming conditions. Currently, the mine holds proven and probable gold resources of over 160 tonnes, with mining depths ranging from 700 to 900 metres, indicating strong exploration potential at depth and in peripheral areas. The mine is operated by Zhaojin International Gold, which boasts a fully integrated mining–processing–smelting value chain. It is Fiji’s only large-scale gold mine and contributes more than 90% of the country’s industrial output.

During this after-sales construction, the AT-2000L Raise borer Machine delivered an impressive performance, providing an outstanding result for our overseas customer.

From February to May, nearly three months of cross-border services not only completed the construction of high-quality ventilation shafts but also demonstrated Yier Technology’s robust overseas performance capability in “equipment + service” dual-track operations.

I. From On-Site Training to Overcoming Challenges Underground: Steadfast Progress at Every Step of the Project

From the very outset of the project, after-sales engineer Yi Xunfei promptly deployed to the mine site to deliver systematic training on safety protocols and hands-on equipment operation, thereby laying a solid foundation for construction and eliminating knowledge gaps. At the same time, he rigorously carried out high-standard ground-level full-unit commissioning, meticulously overseeing every detail to ensure that the equipment was in perfect working condition and free of any potential hazards before being lowered into the mine. Subsequently, the AT-2000L drilling rig successfully completed its underground relocation and officially entered the construction phase. During underground operations, the service team provided continuous support, enhancing safety protection in the tunnel chambers, efficiently managing drill pipe handling, concurrently establishing an emergency water-supply system, and steadily completing the installation and positioning of the equipment underground.

With the project entering the pilot-hole construction phase, the service team maintained continuous on-site supervision and close monitoring of the construction progress. On April 4, the pilot hole was successfully and precisely completed, with the entire operation proceeding smoothly and under tight control, and all performance indicators meeting the design specifications. Subsequently, the reaming operation was completed in 15 days, achieving an average daily advance of 10 meters and an hourly productivity of 1 meter. During this period, the team also provided hands-on, on-site training, meticulously conveying the key operational principles for the equipment to help the mine personnel quickly become proficient and operate the equipment independently. As a result, the reaming and breakthrough were successfully completed, with both construction efficiency and operational accuracy fully meeting the highest standards.

II. Meticulous Craftsmanship Yields a Well That Passes Inspection: Winning Customer Recognition Through Quality

As the construction progressed, the performance advantages of the AT-2000L Raise borer Machine were fully demonstrated. After the well was completed, the well wall was smooth and regular, and the overall quality fully met the mine’s construction standards, earning unanimous recognition from the on-site team.

During the subsequent on-site acceptance, the mine clearly concluded that “the well wall is smooth and the well completion quality is good,” and highly praised Yier Technology’s equipment performance and construction coordination. From pilot hole drilling to reaming, from training to acceptance, Yier Technology’s service team has always been on site, ensuring “comprehensive service and excellent coordination.”

During the on-site wrap-up phase, the service team simultaneously completed equipment relocation, drill pipe inventory, and material organization. In view of the absence of consumable spare parts on site, they submitted a safety stock list of spare parts to the mine, facilitating the subsequent supply of these parts and providing clear guidance for the mine’s future operations. The phrase “continuous follow-up” noted in the team’s remarks is Yier Technology’s solemn commitment to its overseas customers: delivery is just the beginning; service never stops.
